Getting Started

What is Zonifyr?

Zonifyr is a smart geofencing platform that creates Clarity Zones — defined geographic areas (such as a school building or library) where distracting apps are automatically paused when a student's device enters the zone. When the student leaves, everything returns to normal.

How does it work technically?

Zonifyr uses GPS and Wi-Fi positioning to detect when a device enters or exits a defined zone. Once inside, a lightweight app on the student's device communicates with our servers to apply the configured app restrictions. No hardware installation is required.

Do students need to install anything?

Yes. Students install the free Zonifyr app on their iOS or Android device. Setup takes about two minutes and requires parental consent for students under 18. Schools can also deploy the app through their MDM system for seamless bulk installation.

How long does it take to set up?

Most schools are fully operational within a single afternoon. Our onboarding team walks you through zone configuration, app deployment, and parent communication. For individual families, setup takes under 10 minutes.

Privacy & Safety

Does Zonifyr track student location after school hours?

No. Absolutely not. Zonifyr only activates when a device enters a configured zone during configured hours. Outside those hours and locations, the app is completely inactive. We do not store location data, movement history, or any information about what students do outside school.

What data does Zonifyr collect?

Zonifyr collects only what is necessary to operate: device identifiers (to apply zone rules), zone entry and exit timestamps (for parent notifications), and app activity summaries (which apps were blocked during which sessions). We never collect message content, browsing history, or personal communications.

Is Zonifyr FERPA and COPPA compliant?

Yes. Zonifyr is designed to meet the requirements of FERPA and COPPA. We sign Data Processing Agreements with all school partners and never use student data for advertising purposes.

Can parents opt out?

Zonifyr requires parental consent to be active on a student's device. Parents can review, modify, or withdraw consent at any time through the Zonifyr Parent app. If consent is withdrawn, all restrictions are immediately removed.

For Schools & Districts

How many students can Zonifyr support?

Zonifyr scales from a single classroom to a district of 50,000+ students. Our infrastructure is built on enterprise-grade cloud services with 99.9% uptime SLAs for school-tier and district-tier customers.

Can we define multiple zones within one school?

Yes. You can create as many zones as needed — individual classrooms, the library, the cafeteria, or the entire campus. Each zone can have different rules and schedules.

What apps can be blocked?

Zonifyr can block any app category (social media, gaming, streaming, messaging) or specific apps by name. Schools can also create an allowlist — only approved apps work inside the zone. The configuration is fully customisable by administrators.
